SYMBIOSIS

​Symbiosis is an ongoing collaboration between abstract painter Sharon Cannon and photographer Don Saban.  Each work begins with one of Cannon's richly textured oil paintings into which Saban merges a photograpic image.  The result is not a simple overlay, but a seamless visual fushion--where painting and photography intertwine and transform each other.  The final pieces carry the expressive energy of paint and the clarity of the lens.  Together, they form a layered exploration of memory, perception, and presence--work that neither artist could have made alone. 

 

Each final work is printed with archival pigment inks on archival paper with large pieces printed on canvas.
